At a private gathering with key Congressmen on February 14th, President Trump was reported to have suggested raising the fuel tax by 25 cents-per-gallon to fix the Highway Trust Fund. While Democrats and some Republicans saw the discussion as a step forward, several key Congressmen were reportedly cool to the idea.
The Highway Users supports increasing and indexing the fuel tax to fix the Highway Trust Fund. We are likely to oppose an infrastructure bill that does not fix the Highway Trust Fund.
