WASHINGTON, DC (September 10, 2019) – The Highway Users is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Laura C. Perrotta to serve as the organization’s next President and CEO, effective October 7, 2019.

Mr. Thomas Jensen, Chairman of the Highway Users’ Board of Directors and Vice President for Transportation Policy at UPS said, “The Executive Committee conducted an extensive, competitive search for a new leader of The Highway Users. After reviewing an impressive number of excellent candidates, I am very pleased that we have chosen Ms. Perrotta to lead the organization. With bipartisan consensus on the need for infrastructure investment, a one-year countdown to expiration of our national highway programs, and a looming shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund, it is critical that America’s motoring public are led by an individual ready to aggressively advance the case for highway safety, congestion relief, and reconstruction of our aging highway system. Laura Perrotta’s expertise in the traffic safety and auto and truck industries, as well as her Capitol Hill experience, is exactly what the Highway Users needs to lead a nationwide charge for safer mobility and better roads and bridges.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to lead the American Highway Users Alliance,” said Ms. Perrotta. “Improving safety and mobility is important to every American. I am looking forward to working on such critical issues for an organization with a great reputation. This is an incredible opportunity to lead a group that has been at the forefront of transportation policy since 1932. I thank Greg Cohen for his past leadership and passion on everything relating to advancing the interests of the motoring public.”

Outgoing CEO Greg Cohen said, “I am thrilled that the Highway Users has chosen Laura Perrotta to serve as our next President. I am delighted that this organization, whose mission I deeply believe in and whose members and staff I care so much about, is in great hands. I am thankful to Chairman Jensen and the Executive Committee members for volunteering a significant amount of their valuable time to choose my successor. I am also very confident that Laura will continue to prioritize the motoring public’s interests as Congress crafts legislation to embrace new vehicle technologies and build the next generation of American highways and bridges.”

Ms. Perrotta will depart the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) at the end of September where she serves as Senior Director of Legislative Affairs. She is a nationally Certified Association Executive (CAE), past chairman and current board member of The Road Gang, former Director of Legislative Affairs for the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), and former congressional staff for New York Congressman Amo Houghton. While running ATSSA’s Capitol Hill office, she was named one of Association TRENDS Most Effective Association Lobbyists.
